Another Conservative Against Bush

I love these stories, I am going to start collecting them. Yet another conservative announces that the Attila-The-Hun-style government of G.W.Bush is anything but conservative.

GOP candidate calls for impeachment
"This leadership isn't very Republican and I don't think it's very popular with Vermont Republicans," he said. "Republicans in this state tend to be mind-your-own-business people, keep taxes low and government small."

"The Republican leadership is Bush people for the most part," he said. "Generally speaking, I don't pay much attention to party leadership. I recommend that. I recommend it highly."

"The only time I got seriously active was LBJ, Nixon and that war," he said. "Now, we have that situation again with a government running amok."

Morrisseau said he sees an administration flagrantly abusing the powers of the executive branch and a national party leadership gaining dominance over the entire government.

"I'm a Republican," he said. "I'm not a Brown Shirt. I've never, in any contemplation of U.S. history, seen anything like that asserted at any time. I don't think we're going to get much done in the way of standard politics until we clean this neo-con nest out."

This guy did not pull any punches. I'd like to think that there are many more like him out there.

While at the grocery store this afternoon I noticed a man reading the anti-bush bumper stickers on my car. We struck up a conversation. Turns out his daughter is in the Air Force, works with ICBMs, and they feel about Bush the way we do. He says that we would be surprised at the number of military folks who think he is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country. Of course, many of them cannot speak too freely about it because their careers are on the line.......

Sooner than later, the Repubs will figure out that lashing themselves tightly to their current leadership will only get themsleves hung in the next election. At that time, the self-serving interests of these politicos will kick in and they will have to step up and knock off the top of their beloved administration. That said, it will only be done in the name of getting votes. I am not so sure I trust people who start flip flopping off a sinking ship gasping for air as they solicit my vote.

Shea, I'm another conservative who thinks that the Bush Administration and the Republicans are far from conservative anymore.
