Proof That Hell Has Frozen Over

Robertson speaks to teens:
The Rev. Pat Robertson, a noted Republican famous for lambasting leftist groups, turned his criticism to the Republican Party in his speech at the Third Annual Virginia Federation of Teenage Republicans Convention... The founder of the Christian Broadcast Network charged the Republican Congress as "abandoning" fiscal responsibility... "This is our government at work, and unfortunately it is run by Republicans," he said. In light of the NSA wire-tapping revelation, which he called a "tool of oppression," Robertson admonished the Bush administration for "encroaching on" Americans' personal liberties.
Wha--!? Wh-wh-Whaa--!?
...a student at Osbourn High School, said he thought Robertson was the quintessential Republican... but stated a difference in opinion on the relationship between religion and government. "...I believe in complete separation of church and state."
Whew! Thank goodness for small favors.

Anyway, that is the same Pat Robertson who described, in no uncertain terms, George Bush as God's instrument on earth, His divine messenger. Blessed and infallible. Now he turns around and bites the hand that has fed him so generously. Could it be that he has been seduced by the polls? I cannot believe he would come up with this on his own. I think he is yet another example of the big, powerful rats that are streaming in droves from the sinking ship of state.

Hell hath surely frozen over.

I don't think this cat has changed his spots; just that he's still not so brain damaged that he can't see when he's gone too far.

Too little, too late as far as I'm concerned.

More proof, Shea. Tony Snow paraphrased clinton in his first outing as presidential spokesmodel to help foist their immigration "plan" on the American people.

I think Jeremy has hit it on the head, robertson is doin' the theocratic smackdown... bushieboy's reaction to the immigration issue really illustrates who ultimately pulls the strings of the puppet though. As much as he panders to the fundies the ultimate masters are the mighty corporations and their desire to depress the wages of working americans.

The immigration issue works to their advantage completely. Not only does it keep wages low it presents the perfect straw man to keep the american worker from identifyng the real cause of the decline in their standard of living. The typical american blames los illegals for the problems, not the corporations that hire them or the trade policies that forced them to leave their homeland to find work.

Until the average joe wakes up and identifies the real source of the oppression and exploitation in the world they are doomed to continue the slide into complete servitude.

It's true, it's really crazy how much the right has been accusing Bush of being "too liberal". That must be the meanest thing they can think of!

HAHA! Oh man, when crazy wackballs speak it makes my tummy tickle! hehehe, that man is so ccrraaAAZY!

I think it is a combination of the pissed off theocracy meets rats fleeing sinking ship theories. Mostly, I think he knows that he would be stupid to align himself anymore with someone so unpopular. Let's just hope he decides to align with no one, and ultimately weakens the Christian coalition so much that we don't have to listen to their shit anymore. I miss the days of just having crazy televangelists.

While we are on the issue of immigration, I keep hearing talk about the "Other Than Mexican" (OTM), and this big security threat of wacked out muslim fundamentalists with RPGs crossing the border (as if it really isn't easy enough for them to just fly in). Well, that really makes me wonder, what about the OTCs? That's right, the "Other Than Canadian". I mean think about it, if you are gonna blow yourself up in the US, don't you think that some terrorists would prefer to see Canada instead of Mexico on "the way out"? I would. Not that I have anything against mexico, it's just that I've been there. I think I would want to see something new before taking the pipe bomb express. So, why aren't we shipping a bunch of troops to lock down the Canadian border?

Oh wait, I remember now. Because this whole lot of bullshit has nothing to do with security, and Canadian's don't pick our crops, and build our houses.

By the way, I agree with Pat Robertson when he says that Bush is God's instrument. However, I usually use a synonym for instrument and just say "Bush is a tool".

I THINK SOME WHITE ILLEGALS ARE MORE APT TO BE DEPORTED THAN HISPANIC ILLEGALS. A SCOTTISH, VERY WHITE ACQUAINTANCE OF MINE GOT THE BOOT SEVERAL TIMES WHEN HE OOZED OVER HERE. AND HE WORKED TOO, DIDN'T USE FREE (TAXPAYER EXPENSE) MEDICAL CARE (HE PAID FOR IT!!!!), DIDN'T DRAW WELFARE AND DIDN'T GET SUBSIZED (AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE) HOUSING, AND DIDN'T HAVE A HOUSEFULL OF CHILDREN TO BE EDUCATED (AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE), BORN (AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE), FOOD STAMPS (AT TAX PAYER EXPENSE) ETC ETC ETC..

AS GLAD AS I WAS TO SEE HIM BOOTED
FROM MY COUNTRY, I WISHED THE INS WAS AS ZEALOUS WITH OTHER ILLEGALS.

Native Texan: "Oozed over?" Not sure what that means, but I do know that immigration fraud is perpetrated by many nationalities. Also, I'm not sure where you get your information about social services, but I actually work in that field, so I can tell you that in California, undocumented aliens do not get "free medical care." They can get emergency care only, meaning that we will prevent them from dying if, say, they are in an accident of some kind, but they cannot receive any ongoing medical care. As for your term "draw welfare" I assume you mean cash aid, which is not available to adults, American or otherwise. Subsidized housing - blame the landlord for renting to illegals, not the government. As for being born at "taxpayer expense", well, I believe a little human compassion is worth it. As for food stamps, the rule is that you must be employed to receive them - if you go three months unemployed, you lose them - so, if you oppose illegal immigrants receiving food stamps, then stop (illegally) hiring them.
