Mentally ill troops forced into combat!

Mentally ill troops forced into combat:
"U.S. military troops with severe psychological problems have been sent to Iraq or kept in combat, even when superiors have been aware of signs of mental illness, a newspaper reported in its Sunday editions."
Oh, lovely. Thanks to George Bush, we now live in a world where reality and bizarre tabloid headlines have merged into one. But... it's real.

Not surprising as recruitment levels have been dropping and the gov't is wont to institute the draft.

The military probably keeps these guys in combat so they won't have to pay out in VA disability benefits or something.

It's not new - the same thing was done in WW II and probably since time began. Troops were told to suck it up.

That doesn't make it right and now that we have learned about PTSD, it shouldn't be happening.

Of course, they also shouldn't be accepting autistic teens but that seems to be happening as well.

hell, Ken, maybe they'll just privatize the VA.
wouldn't put it past them.

Halliburton bedpans for everyone!

Sounds a lot like slavery to me...oh, that and forcing officers who are able to retire to re-up...not to mention keeping GIs beyond their tours....

In this scenario, who's really out of their minds? That's obviousy rhetorical.

Shea I just get the biggest kick out of your new avatar.

Thanks. I saw an animated one somewhere, and I thought, "Whoa! I've got to get one of thoes!" So I googled around and found one that totally fit me. You know, it might actually portray me falling asleep at the PC after blogging into the wee hours, and hitting my head as I pass out!

Oh this is just perfect. Now we will have people who were otherwise healthy going in, become mentally ill after their service has ended.

Well, mentally ill politicians do get re-elected, after all...
